Due to a specific fast cutting element, the contacts are separated by less than 1ms. In this way, the electric arc is drastically reduced by extinction chambers of specific construction, in which the alternating short-circuit current is interrupted moments before its passage through zero. The contacts are properly designed with the use of special alloys based on silver, providing a great security against the collage of the contacts and a high electrical durability. The circuit breaker needs to be specified through some predefined standards, such as insulation voltage, nominal voltage, rated current, interrupting capacity and type of drive.
The circuit breakers consist of magneto-thermal components for protection of installations and electrical devices against overload as well as short circuit flexco conveyors. The circuit-breakers are equipped with a bimetal thermal trigger, which has the function to act in cases of possible overload, and with an electromagnetic trigger that operates in cases of short circuit. In this way, these systems are individually adjusted to values appropriate for the protection of specific loads, as well as control circuits and small motors, among others.
